Ruiz Elementary NEHS Excels at Raising Pennies for Tennies!Courtesy Alex Meyer,(Laredo, Texas)-Members of the Ruiz elementary National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) recently collected $1,242.56 for this year’s Pennies for Tennies fundraising effort. The impressive sum was also the most collected by any elementary school in UISD. The Laredo Women’s City Club recognized the students’ accomplishment by awarding them with an them anXBOX One gaming station during a recent luncheon at the Laredo Country Club.
Ruiz elementary teacher and NEHS sponsor Daisy Osorino coordinated the effort at her campus. “Our kids worked hard to collect donations which are used to purchase tennis shoes and reading glasses for our most underprivileged children. Efforts like these help them understand the importance of community service and how their work improves the lives of others.” said Osorini.
