(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD is proud to announce the selection of Jose Coss, as the Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach for United South High School.
“We are delighted to announce Jose Coss as the newest member to the Mighty Panther Family at United South High School,” stated Roberto J. Santos, Superintendent for United ISD. “His knowledge of the game and success makes him a great fit for the Athletic Program at United South,” he added.
As a native of Laredo, Coach Coss is no stranger to Laredo schools. Before taking a spot at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, Coach Coss was the First Assistant Head Coach for John B. Alexander High School Football Team, where Coach Coss helped guide Alexander High School to the Regional Semi-Finals from 2011-2014. Coach Coss also coached Powerlifting, Track and Wrestling. In 2016, Coach Coss coached a state powerlifting champion, and District/Area Champions in Track and Field events. With several titles under his belt, Coach Coss is sure to continue the success Panther Athletes are accustomed to.
Coach Coss served as Defensive Coordinator and as the off-Season Coordinator for the Cedar Ridge High School football team. In this capacity, he assisted in taking Cedar Ridge to back-to-back District titles, most recently earning a spot in the State Semi-Finals this year.
“Coach Coss brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to United ISD athletes as he has years of experiences as in a number of sports,” stated United ISD Athletic Director Bobby Cruz. “His overall vision and passion for not just the game, but for the students he coaches makes him the ideal candidate to assume this position,” added Cruz.
Coach Coss succeeds Sergio Salinas who recently accepted the Athletic Coordinator spot at John B. Alexander High School. Coach Coss will assume his new role effectively immediately.
