UISD’s 5th Annual District-Wide Math Bee saw no shortage of fierce competition as students in grades 2 thru 5 faced off for the top spot in their division at UISD’s SAC auditorium. A total of 87 students (3 from each UISD elementary campus), competed in 3 divisions.
Cynthia Rodriguez,Executive Director for Elementary Education, said that she was pleased to see that parent attendance had increased at this year’s mathematical showdown. “There were so many highlight’s. For instance, we had two students in the fourth/fifth grade category who went through several rounds in a bid for third place” said Rodriguez. She also noted that all 87 competitors had to demonstrate a strong command of math skills at their respective campuses in order to qualify for the District-Wide Math Bee. Congratulations to the winners!
