CBP Officers at Laredo Port of Entry Seize $192K in Heroin

LAREDO, Texas—On the heels of a poly-drug load this weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) CBP officers at Laredo Port of Entry on Monday seized a combination load of heroin and fentanyl with combined estimated street value of $192,000.
“These back-to-back seizures of multiple types of narcotics underscore the seriousness and the deadliness of the drug threat our frontline CBP officers are facing. Their continued vigilance and dedication to CBP’s border security mission helps to prevent these drugs from reaching our communities,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
On Monday, Feb. 12, CBP officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge referred a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck for a secondary inspection. During the secondary inspection, CBP officers along with the help of a canine team conducted a thorough examination and found narcotics hidden within the vehicle. CBP officers extracted two packages containing a total of 3.3 pounds of alleged heroin and two packages containing a total of 3.7 pounds of alleged fentanyl. The narcotics have a combined estimated street value of $192,400.
CBP OFO seized the narcotics and vehicle. The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
