(Laredo, Texas)-It has been a long-standing tradition for Alexander High School students to excel not only during marching season, but also in the spring where students compete at the annual Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA) Area G Regional Competition. Over the weekend, students traveled to Corpus Christi to attend the competition being held at Texas A&M University. This competition is where the best of the best musicians from Del Rio and all the way to Brownsville meet to compete for a spot on TMEA’s Concert Band.
Under the direction of Joshua Martinez, Ricardo Fuentes, Diana Gonzalez, and Jacob Thompson, over twenty students competed individually in front of a blind panel of judges and boy did they make us United proud. These musicians competed with the highest caliber of musicians from the area and are to be congratulated for this tremendous accomplishment.
