Laredo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized a noteworthy amount of alleged cocaine at the World Trade Bridge in one enforcement action this weekend.

This significant seizure was realized due to the continued vigilance and alertness our CBP officers put forth on a daily basis,” said (A) Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.  “I commend our CBP officers in carrying out CBP’s border security mission and protecting the public from these illegal narcotics.”

The seizure occurred at World Trade Bridge on Friday, Jan. 5, when a CBP officer referred a tractor trailer hauling a shipment of household goods for a secondary inspection.  A non-intrusive imaging system and canine inspection by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 45 packages containing 112 pounds of alleged cocaine. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $862,240.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
