CBP Officers Seize More Than $61K in Narcotics at the Laredo Port of Entry

LAREDO, TEXAS –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $61,800 in one enforcement action this weekend.
“Amid heavy pre-Thanksgiving traffic, our CBP officers maintained their vigilance and zeroed-in on this drug load,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “Border security is our constant mission and every seizure, whether large or small helps us reach our objectives and keep our communities safer.”
The seizure occurred on Saturday, November 18 at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2006 Ford Explorer driven by a 34-year-old-male Mexican citizens from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon for a secondary examination. A canine and physical inspection of the vehicle by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of four packages containing 8.02 pounds of alleged cocaine.
The seizure has an estimated street value of $61,880.
CBP officers seized the narcotics, vehicle and the driver was arrested. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
