LAREDO, TEXAS –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged liquid methamphetamine carrying an estimated street value of more than $700,000 in one enforcement action.

“Our officers maintain strict vigilance during peak travel seasons where thousands of vehicles are processed daily and numerous amounts of narcotics are intercepted,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “Every load of narcotics that we intercept at our port of entry helps keep our streets safer.”

The seizure occurred on Tuesday, July 4 at the Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2007 Chrysler Sebring driven by a 21-year-old male U.S. citizen for a secondary examination. A physical inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 15 bottles allegedly containing 39 pounds of liquid methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $784,837.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicle. The driver was arrested and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
