(Laredo, Texas)-Over 3,000 United Independent School District high school students will don graduation caps and gowns for commencement ceremonies that will take place June 2 and 3 at the Laredo Energy Arena, located at 6700 Arena Boulevard.
The schedule for the 2017 United ISD high school graduation ceremonies will be as follows:
June 2, 2017 Sames “Kia in the Klassroom” Car Drawing 5:30 P.M.
June 2, 2017 Lyndon B. Johnson High School 6:00 P.M.
June 3, 2017 United High School 9:30 A.M.
June 6, 2015 Alexander High School 1:30 P.M.
June 6, 2015 United South High School 6:30 P.M.
“On behalf of our Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate the graduates of the Class of 2017,” said United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos. “Our commencement exercises allow us to formally celebrate the scholastic achievements of our students as they enter a new chapter in their lives. Equally exciting is the fact that our students have accepted exceptional amounts in scholarships and the amount continues to grow. Way to go, graduates!”
Additionally, United ISD is expecting large crowds at each graduation ceremony and would like to remind family and friends of the following items:
Doors will open one hour before each graduation ceremony begins (with the exception of UHS which will open 1 ½ hours before the ceremony). Admission to each graduation ceremony is free. However, each person two years of age and above is required to present their ticket at the door. Each ticket is for one general admission seat. Tickets have been bar-coded and will be scanned upon entrance to the LEA. No exceptions will be given to anyone who has lost their ticket.
All family and friends should arrive early at the LEA to avoid traffic congestion and delays.
Balloons for graduates will be checked at the entrance of the LEA. Additionally, backpacks, food/drinks, glass vases, no signs, strollers, confetti, streamers, noisemakers or tripods for video cameras will not be allowed in the arena.
School organizations have been designated to sell graduation items at each ceremony. These booths will be set up in the foyer by the main entrance.
For family members and friends who cannot make it to the ceremonies, United ISD will provide a live and free broadcast of each ceremony over the Internet during their respective dates and times. Individuals wanting to view any high school graduation ceremony can log-on to the District’s website at www.uisd.net and click on the graduation icon on the home page. The District recommends that individuals wanting to view a graduation ceremony via the Internet, log-on at least 30 minutes before the ceremony actually starts.
