CBP Officers Seize over $783K in Crystal Meth at the Laredo Port of Entry

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated value of over $783,000 during two enforcement actions.

“The primary officers’ experience, and interviewing technique was a key component in this significant narcotic interception,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “I commend our officers for their hard work, dedication and commitment to our mission.”

badgeThe first seizure occurred on Wednesday, March 29 at Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2014 Nissan Tsuru driven by a 59-year-old male Mexican citizen from Marshall, Texas for a secondary examination. After a canine and physical inspection of his personal belongings, including bags of candy, CBP officers discovered 118 packages allegedly containing 26 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $518,521.

The second seizure occurred on Wednesday, March 29 at Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2004 Ford pickup driven by a 50-year-old male Mexican citizen from Marshall, Texas for a secondary examination. After a canine and physical inspection of his personal belongings, CBP officers discovered 58 packages allegedly containing 13 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $264,552.

Both seizures combined carry an estimated street value of $783,073.
