TAMIU Presents ‘A World Without NAFTA: Economic and Business Perspectives’ Thursday, March 30

tamiuHow would the world be affected if NAFTA were to disappear some day?
This and related questions will be analyzed and discussed during a special forum organized by Texas A&M International University’s

Office of Global Initiatives entitled, “A World Without NAFTA: Economic Business Perspectives” Thursday, March 30 from 8-10 a.m. in Student Center, room 236.

At the forum, expert presenters will provide an analysis of the state of the U.S.-México border. The event is a collaboration of the TAMIU Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade, TAMIU Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development and the TAMIU Business Development Center.

The presentations are free and open to the public.

The presentation schedule follows:

8 a.m., Welcome by Dr. Pablo Arenaz, TAMIU president and Maria Eugenia Calderon-Porter, assistant vice president for Global Initiatives.

8:15 a.m. – Dr. Stephen Meardon, director, Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade – “The Stakes for U.S. Hemispheric and World Economies.”

8:45 a.m. – Dr. Federico Schaffler, director, Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development – “International Trade Impacts Beyond Custom Brokers and Logistics Operators.”

9:15 a.m. – Michael González, director, Small Business Development Center – “Risks for South Texas Small Business.”

9:45 a.m. – Q&A Session
