LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized over $74K in cocaine during one enforcement action this past weekend.
“This seizure was an excellent interception from our CBP officers,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “I congratulate the officers for demonstrating the highest standard of vigilance by disrupting the flow of illicit narcotics into our country.”
The seizure occurred on Saturday, March 11 at Colombia-Solidarity Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2008 Nissan Maxima driven by a 30-year-old male Mexican citizen from Laredo, Texas for a secondary examination. Upon a canine and physical inspection of the vehicle, CBP officers discovered four packages allegedly containing 9.7 pounds of cocaine with a street value of $74,800.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicle. The driver was arrested and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
