CBP Officers Seize Over $365K in Narcotics at the Laredo Port of Entry

LAREDO, TEXAS –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged cocaine carrying a combined estimated street value of more than $365,000 in one enforcement action.
“This was an excellent interception by our CBP officers and a great example of the layered enforcement implemented by CBP,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “I congratulate our officers for their dedication which has prevented these dangerous narcotics from entering our country.”
The seizure occurred on Thursday, March 2, at World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2006 Kenworth tractor driven by a 51-year-old male Mexican citizen from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas for a secondary examination. A non-intrusive and canine inspection of the tractor resulted in the discovery of 18 packages allegedly containing 48 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $365,840.
CBP officers arrested the driver and seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
