(Laredo, Texas)- A dynamic career opportunity in data analysis focused on the health care industry will be possible as part of a new partnership program between Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), School of Biomedical Informatics, Brownsville Campus.
TAMIU officials joined UTHealth representatives for a partnership ceremony launching the effort Thursday at TAMIU’s Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Colonnade.
The new 4 + 1 graduate program takes select senior TAMIU students and admits them into the graduate certificate in biomedical informatics, a 15-hour program with courses offered online. It integrates graduate curriculum into the student’s undergraduate work. The students graduate with a bachelor’s degree, while also earning a graduate certificate in biomedical informatics.
During the last semester of undergraduate study, students can apply to the graduate degree program to complete the remaining semester credit hours required for the Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics. The remaining semester credit hours can be completed in one year, if enrolled full-time.
