(McAllen, Tx)- McAllen Public Library invites the community to attend the Family Place Site Visit presentation on Thursday, January 26 at 10:00AM in the Main Library Children’s Department. The site visit by Family Place Officials is to certify that MPL is fulfilling its promise to promote the core objectives of the Family Place initiative.
The Family Place Libraries network provides resources to over 400 sites in libraries across the nation to build dedicated spaces for children to play, learn, and grow.
In May of 2015, MPL was one of twelve public libraries selected by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to receive these resources, as well as attend Family Place Training Institute, a three-day intensive training on providing family-centered library services.
As a Family Place Library, MPL provides engaging programs and a fun environment where young children can safely explore and learn about their world. Parents and children are encouraged to play and learn together, and to interact with each other and make new friends. MPL’s goal as a Family Place Library is to encourage parental involvement in a child’s early learning and development, and to promote lifelong literacy.
