Alfonso Calderon New Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach at LBJ High School

(Laredo, Texas)-During a press conference hosted by Lyndon B. Johnson High School (LBJ),, Superintendent Roberto J. Santos, District Athletic Director Robert “Coach” Cruz and Principal Armando Salazar introduced Mr. Alfonso Calderon as the new Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach for LBJ. The announcement of Calderon’s new post was celebrated by fellow administrators staff, teachers and the LBJ football players, cheerleaders and band members who were also present for the official announcement. Calderon was head softball coach from 2008-2014 before becoming Assistant Athletic Director.

He also helped to coach varsity football during those six years. He has a Master of Education degree in administration. Mr. Cruz said that the LBJ football team is fortunate to have such a talented coach in the their corner. Coach Calderon expressed an eagerness to get started. “I wish to thank everyone for their confidence in me and for allowing me to work in a place that I love. I am from here, and I will coach our LBJ team in the game and life as well. I also wish to thank my wife for her support”, he concluded.
