Laredo Regional Food Bank thanks Lamar Bruni Vergara M.S. for Donation

(Laredo, Texas)-Laredo Regional Food Bank President Adolfo Gonzalez presented a trophy of appreciation to the staff and students at Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School (L.B.V.M.S.), for their donation of 787 pounds of canned goods and a $1000.00 check to the food bank. “I think it’s wonderful that our youngest citizens are civic minded. The donation and funds will help feed many local families. No one should go hungry. On behalf of the food bank, I thank them for this kind gesture”, said Gonzalez.
English department head Irma Salinas and reading teacher Margarita Talbott organized the drive,which was held during the school’s homecoming pep rally in October. Admission to the event was 5 cans of food or $3.00 per person.”Everyone was happy to pitch in, and our students were particularly excited when they were told they would be helping fellow Laredoan’s”, said Ms. Salinas. Ms. Talbott added that she was very pleased with the outcome and thanked students for making the drive a success. “A good number of the students at our campus come from economically challenged households, so it was very heartening to witness their enthusiasm for the project”, said Talbott.
