Massachusetts Institute of Technology Recognizes Some of United High School’s Best Teachers

Alex Meyer,

a(Laredo, Texas)-During the most recent P.T.C meeting at United High School, Principal Alberto Aleman Jr., along with his Assistant Principals and staff, congratulated three teachers for being bestowed with the M.I.T. Inspirational Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology The university recognizes educators who have been influential in the academic advancement of their students. On this occasion three U.H.S. students.(David Mejorado, Miguel Vega and Ricardo Villarreal), nominated their teachers for the recognition. All three are graduates of the Longhorn class of 2016 and are currently attending M.I.T.

The teachers who were honored with The M.I.T. Inspirational Achievement Award are Elizabeth Arciniega (English), David Saenz (Math) and Edwin Torres Bazaldua (Math). The lessons such outstanding educators teach often go far beyond the subject matter of their fields. They instill values and a love of learning that shape educational and career choices.

Principal Aleman explained that M.I.T customarily surveys new students and asks them to name high school teachers who have had a profound influence on their decision to set high goals for themselves. “M.I.T. provides a vehicle for their new students to nominate their high school teachers for the prestigious recognition, and the university celebrates those teachers and high schools that provide a stronger connection to the range of MIT’s offerings. We are so proud of our teachers and students” said Aleman. To commemorate the occasion, each of the nominated teachers and United High School administrators received a personalized acknowledgement letter from the M.I.T. Alumni Association Inspirational Teacher Award Committee.
