Winnipeg 9, St. Paul 7 – Game 2 (Series tied, 1-1)
The Winnipeg Goldeyes jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first inning of play and would never look back as they defeated St. Paul by the score of 9-7. Winnipeg pounded out 14 hits in the contest with eight of the nine batters collecting at least one. Goldeyes SS Maikol Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI while 1B David Rohm added four hits, scored a run and drove in one. Winnipeg starting pitcher Edwin Carl tossed five innings and notched his first postseason victory. Carl allowed three earned runs on seven hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. For St. Paul in the losing effort, SS Tony Thomas had a 2-for-5 game with a home run, two runs scored and a RBI. The series is now tied 1-1 with game three tomorrow night in St. Paul beginning at 7:05 PM.
