(Laredo, Texas)-With the completion of build-out plans for reinforced security stations at seven of its elementary schools, United ISD has finished a portion of projects funded by Bond 2013. The new stations (located at the front entrance of each campus), provide an additional layer of security, and allow for improved monitoring of all visitors. Security guards who monitor the stations are aided by state-of-the-art building access controls, video surveillance, and card reader locking systems for exterior perimeter doors.
The newly finished security stations are located at Bonnie Garcia, Borchers, Centeno, Col. Santos, Fasken, Killam and Malakoff elementary. Phase II and III of the construction program, (projected to launch in 2017 and 2018, respectively), will introduce similar security upgrades to all remaining United ISD elementary, middle, and high school campuses.
