American Association Game Recaps for Tuesday August 9th

lemursLaredo 3, Texas 0
The Laredo Lemurs pitching staff combined to two-hit the Texas AirHogs on the way to a 3-0 shutout win.
Starting pitcher Zack Dodson earned the win for working six innings and allowing just one hit while striking out four batters in his debut with the Lemurs. Reliever Luis Pollorena come on and worked the next two innings while allowing just one more hit and reliever Jeff Inman struck out the side in the ninth to seal the deal.
Offensively, SS Alvaro Rondon had a pair of RBI and CF Denis Phipps went 3-for-4.

St. Paul 2, Gary SouthShore 1
The St. Paul Saints edged past the Gary SouthShore RailCats 2-1 in a game where each team managed just four hits.
The RailCats struck first, as 2B John Holland scored when LF Reggie Wilson grounded out to the third baseman in the bottom of the third inning. But the Saints took the lead in the top of the fifth and never trailed again. C Aaron Gretz leveled the score with a single that plated DH Tony Caldwell and in the next at-bat, LF Willie Argo scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
Starting pitcher Dan Johnson earned the win for pitching 5.2 innings and allowing the one run on four hits. Reliever Ryan Rodebaugh picked up the save. Argo had two of the Saints’ four hits.

Kansas City 8, Lincoln 0
Starting pitcher Mike Kickham went eight strong innings for the Kansas City T-Bones to pave the way for an 8-0 shutout win against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
Kickham allowed seven hits and struck out nine batters without issuing a walk in the game. Reliever Johnny Shuttlesworth worked the ninth and preserved the shutout. At the plate, both 3B Jimmy Mojica and 2B Brett Wiley each had a pair of RBI. Wiley and LF Tyson Gillies each tallied two hits in the game.
For the Saltdogs, both LF Brandon Jacobs and 1B Curt Smith went 2-for-4.

Winnipeg 4, Sioux Falls 3
The Winnipeg Goldeyes broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh inning and held on to take care of the Sioux Falls Canaries 4-3.
With the game tied at 3-3, RF Willie Cabrera led off the inning by reaching on an error. A single from LF Josh Romanski moved him to third and then he scored when 1B Jacob Rogers single after fouling off four straight pitches. Cabrera went 2-for-5 in the game and 2B Casio Grider went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
For the Canaries, both 2B Darwin Perez and DH J.C. Linares went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Sioux City 8, Joplin 2
Seven different Sioux City Explorers combined to rack up 13 hits as they topped the Joplin Blaster 8-2.
Of those seven batters, five had multi-hit games. DH Derrick Robinson had a team-high three hits as he went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. 3B Tommy Mendonca added two RBI and went 2-for-4. RF Michael Lang, SS Nate Samson and 1B Brendan Slattery each also tallied a pair of hits. Slattery also hit his second home run of the year.
For the Blasters, 3B Brandon Tierney’s two-run home run in the sixth inning was his team’s only run production.

Wichita 10, Fargo-Moorhead 1
The Wichita Wingnuts turned 10 hits into 10 runs on Tuesday night as they downed the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 10-1.
CF Harrison Kain tripled twice in the game to push four runs across the plate and two other Wingnuts – 2B Christian Stringer and 3B Zack Cox – each added a pair of hits. DH Brennen Salgado chipped in three RBI. Four other Wichita batters each recorded a hit in the game. Starting pitcher Tim Brown earned the win for tossing eight innings and giving up one run on seven hits.

For the RedHawks, SS Mike Gilmartin had a team-high two hits.
