Fargo-Moorhead 5, Winnipeg 2 – 10 Innings
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks edged the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-2 in 10 innings thanks to a three-run home run from 1B Dustin Geiger.
The score was tied at 2-2 after nine innings of play and needed an extra frame to decide a winner. The RedHawks held an early lead after scoring a run each in the fourth and fifth innings but the Goldeyes rallied to tie things up with a run in the sixth and another in the eighth. Geiger’s three-run blast in the top of the 10th proved the be the difference maker.
Geiger finished the game 3-for-5 ad LF Brian Humphries added three hits in five at bats. Both DH K.D. Kang and SS Mike Gilmartinadded RBI. For the Goldeyes, 1B David Rohm went 2-for-5 with an RBI and CF Reggie Abercrombie hit his 17th home run of the season.
St. Paul 8, Wichita 0
The St. Paul Saints shut out the Wichita Wingnuts 8-0 behind the performance of starting pitcher Robert Coe.
Coe earned his 11th win of the season after working eight innings and giving up six hits without allowing a run. He also struck out nine batters and 78 of his 125 pitches went for strikes. Reliever Benji Waite came on and worked a perfect ninth to preserve the shutout. Offensively for the Saints, both CF Alonzo Harris and LF Tony Thomas had three hits, a home run and a pair of RBI.
For the Wingnuts, six different batters each had one hit including leadoff man 2B Christian Stringer, who also drew a walk.
