CBP Officers Seize More Than $2.5 Million in Narcotics at Laredo Port of Entry

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of narcotics in three enforcement actions at the Laredo Port of Entry.
“Our frontline officer’s hard work and determination played a key role in the interceptions,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “These interceptions are truly indicative of our CBP officers’ commitment to the service.”
The latest seizure occurred on Wednesday, June 29 at World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2014 International tractor, driven by a 38-year-old male Mexican citizen from Zamora, Mexico for a non-intrusive inspection. A canine and non-intrusive inspection by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of two packages allegedly containing 53 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. The crystal meth carries an estimated street value of $1,067,908.
The second seizure occurred on Wednesday, June 29, when a CBP officer referred a 2008 Kia Sorento, driven by a 43-year-old female Mexican citizen from Victoria, Texas traveling with a 41 year-old Mexican citizen for a secondary inspection. A canine and non-intrusive inspection by CBP officers resulted in the allegedly discovery of 75 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. The crystal meth carries an estimated street value of $1,507,064.
The last seizure occurred on Tuesday, June 28 at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 1999 Chevrolet Cheyenne driven by a 41-year-old male Mexican citizen from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon to secondary for further inspection. A canine and non-intrusive inspection by CBP officers led to the discovery of two packages allegedly containing four pounds of cocaine. The cocaine carries an estimated street value of $35,020.
