LAREDO, Texas –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at World Trade Bridge this week discovered $202,000 in cocaine within a tractor arriving at the import lot.

“Our frontline officers maintained strict vigilance at the World Trade Bridge amid soaring heat and their dedication to CBP’s border security mission resulted in a significant interception of hard narcotics,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry.

The seizure occurred on July 14 at World Trade Bridge. A CBP officer referred a 1998 Freightliner tractor driven by a 26-year-old male Mexican citizen from Nuevo Laredo hauling a commercial shipment of oil/fuel filters for a secondary inspection. During the examination, CBP officers utilized all available tools and resources, including non-intrusive imaging systems, and discovered 10 packages of alleged cocaine hidden within the tractor. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $202,640.
CBP officers turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
