Gary SouthShore 10, Texas 5
Gary SouthShore pounded out 20 hits in the contest and rolled to a 10-5 victory over Texas. Seven hitters in the RailCats lineup had multi-hit games including 2B John Holland who went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Gary SouthShore 1B Alex Crosby collected four hits and three RBI while SS Jarred Mederos had a 3-for-5 game with a run scored and two RBI. RailCats starter Karl Triana evened his record at 4-4 with the win. Triana went seven innings giving up four earned runs on nine hits and striking out five batters. For the AirHogs in the losing effort, 2B Cory Morales went 2-for-4 and launched one of the four home runs hit by the team in the game.
St. Paul 9, Lincoln 7
Trailing 7-2 after five innings of play, the St. Paul Saints scored seven runs over the next three innings to rally past the Lincoln Saltdogs, 9-7. St. Paul had an 18-hit attack led by DH Dan Johnson who went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI. Saints leadoff hitter Alonzo Harris also had four hits in six at-bats while C Aaron Gretz launched a home run and plated a pair of runs. St. Paul pitcher Mike Strong tossed a scoreless inning of relief to earn his first win of the year. Left fielder Brandon Jacobs went 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in the loss for Lincoln.
Sioux City 3, Sioux Falls 0
With the contest scoreless after seven innings, Sioux City SS Nate Samson doubled home DH Derrick Robinson with the first run of the game as the Explorers went on to a 3-0 victory over Sioux Falls. Sioux City starting pitcher Cody Forsythe and two relievers tossed a five-hit shutout in the win. Forsythe threw the first seven innings allowing only four hits while fanning six batters. The bullpen duo of Jake Kuebler and Connor Overton finished the final two innings giving up only a hit and striking out one. Forsythe notched his sixth victory while Overton earned his 10th save. Offensively for the Explorers, 1B Brendan Slattery and LF LeVon Washington each had two hits on the night with Slattery scoring a run.
Joplin 8, Fargo-Moorhead 5
The Joplin Blasters jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play and would hold off a late push by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to collect an 8-5 win. Joplin had 13 hits in the contest with five players having multi-hit games. Blasters 3B Brandon Tierney went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI while leadoff hitter Mitch Glasser added a pair of hits and plated two runs. Joplin 1B Geraldo Valentin also launched a home run, scored two runs and drove in a pair. Blasters hurler Luis Gonzalez threw 6 1/3 innings and picked up his first victory. Gonzalez allowed three earned runs on three hits.
The Laredo Lemurs tallied four runs in the seventh inning and five more in the eighth to blow open a tight contest and beat the Wichita Wingnuts, 12-1. Laredo had 14 hits in the game and was led by LF Leandro Castro who went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. Lemurs CF Drew Martinez had three hits in five at-bats along with three runs scored and a RBI with SS Alvaro Rondon picking up two hits and plating two runs. Laredo pitcher Luis Pollorena threw two innings of shutout baseball to earn the victory. Pollorena has an overall record of 3-1 on the year.
Kansas City 15, Winnipeg 15 (Top 11 – In Progress)
