Luz E. Serna-Ramirez Named New Principal At Veterans Memorial Elementary School

Laredo, Texas-United ISD: United Independent School District Superintendent Roberto J. Santos is pleased to announce the selection of Luz E. Serna-Ramirez as the new principal for Veterans Memorial Elementary School.The announcement was recently made at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.
“She has a wealth of experience,” said United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos. “She has done a very good job for the District and I know she will continue to move this campus forward on the path of success,” said Santos.
An employee with the District since 1995, Serna-Ramirez first began her career as a 4th grade teacher at Clark Elementary School. She later moved to Prada Elementary School where she worked as a school counselor. She has also served as an assistant principal at Muller Elementary School and most recently was an assistant principal at Salinas Elementary School. Prior to joining United ISD, she was a 4th grade teacher at Honore Ligarde Elementary School in Laredo ISD.
Serna-Ramirez is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Art with a major in Spanish in 1990. In 1996, she graduated with a Master’s degree Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M International University. She also holds numerous educational certifications.
“I am honored to be the new principal of Veterans Memorial Elementary. Together, with the faculty, staff, parents, and the community, we will go “full steam ahead” to provide our students the best education to prepare them for all their future endeavors,” said Serna-Ramirez.
Serna-Ramirez will replace Gilberto Castro, who recently retired from the District. VME is located in south Laredo, in front of Lamar Bruni Vegara Middle School. It is the District’s 27th elementary school and the newest elementary campus in United ISD.
