Winnipeg 7, Lincoln 1
A sensational pitching performance by starter Kyle Anderson leads the Winnipeg Goldeyes past the Lincoln Saltdogs by a 7-1 score. Anderson threw a 77-pitch complete game giving up only an earned run on two hits with three strikeouts. The southpaw is now 3-0 on the year with a miniscule ERA of 0.81. Five Winnipeg batters had multi-hit games including 1B Jacob Rogers who had a perfect 3-for-3 night at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI. Goldeyes DH Josh Romanski went 3-for-5 and a run scored while 2B Casio Grider had a pair of doubles in four at-bats with two runs scored and two RBI.
St. Paul 7, Laredo 4
St. Paul scored six big runs in the seventh inning to overcome a 4-1 deficit and beat Laredo by a 7-4 final. The Saints collected 13 hits in the contest with the top of order doing the most damage. St. Paul CF Alonzo Harris, RF Breland Almadova and 1B Nate Hanson went a combined 7-for-14 at the plate with four runs scored and six RBI. Saints starter and Pitcher of the Week Mark Hamburger moved his record to a perfect 4-0 on the year with the complete game performance. Hamburger gave up three earned runs on six hits and struck out four batters. With the victory, St. Paul is now a league best 12-4 on the season.
Sioux City 10, Kansas City 2
Trailing 2-0 after an inning of play, the Sioux City Explorers stormed right back scoring seven runs over the next four innings to take control of the game and beating the Kansas City T-Bones, 10-2. Sioux City 2B Jarek Cunningham led the way offensively going 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Explorers DH Tim Colwell added three hits and three RBI while CF Matty Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Sioux City starting pitcher Graham Johnson threw 5 2/3 innings and collected his second win of the season. Johnson gave up two runs, both earned, on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Wichita 6, Gary SouthShore 1
The Wichita Wingnuts rolled out to a 4-0 lead after four innings and cruised to a 6-1 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Wichita starting pitcher Jon Link was solid on the mound as he gave up an earned run on eight hits in a complete game effort. Link allowed one walk while fanning four hitters en route to evening his record at 2-2 on the season. The Wingnuts banged out 13 hits in the contest with five batters having multi-hit games. Wichita C Brent Dean went 3-for-4 with two RBI and RF Richard Prigatano had a pair of hits in four at-bats with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored.
Joplin 5, Texas 1
Joplin scored a pair of runs in both the second and third innings to take an early 4-0 lead and would roll from there to a 5-1 victory over Texas. The Blasters were led at the plate by 1B Charlie Valerio going 1-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks. Joplin 3B Cory Morales added a two-hit night and drove in a run. Blasters reliever Matt Parish tossed 1 1/3 of scoreless baseball to notch the victory. Parish allowed a hit and two walks with a strikeout. For the AirHogs, who left 14 runners on base, RF Nick Akins hit a solo home run.
Sioux Falls 2, Fargo-Moorhead 1
Sioux Falls LF Taylor Zeutenhorst launched a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Canaries to a dramatic 2-1 walk-off win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Fargo-Moorhead carried a 1-0 into the eighth inning only to see Sioux Falls tied it up with an unearned run and then win it in the ninth on the home run by Zeutenhorst. Canaries reliever Kris Regas notched the victory as he threw a scoreless ninth inning allowing two hits while striking out three. Regas is now 3-0 on the season. Both teams combined had six hits on the night with 26 strikeouts.
