American Association Game Recaps for Friday June 10th

St. Paul 18, Sioux Falls 10
St. Paul DH Tony Thomas (pictured) hit two home runs to lead an 18 hit attack, as the Saints were victorious over the Sioux Falls Canaries 18-0. Thomas went 3-for-6 and now leads the league in batting average at .404. Reliever Benji Waite received the win tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. For Sioux Falls, 3B Ozney Guillen had a great night at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Fargo-Moorhead 11, Winnipeg 8
Behind 14 hits, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 11-8. After trailing 1-0 in the third inning, the RedHawks would score eight runs over the next three innings to back starter Tyler Alexander who logged the win throwing eight innings, giving up three earned runs. LF Keury De La Cruz and 3B Josh Mazzola each had three hits. For Winnipeg, LF Josh Romanski and CF Reggie Abercrombie both hit home runs.

Wichita 13, Texas 9
Wichita DH Brent Clevlen went 5-for-6 with a home run, and five RBI to lead the Wingnuts past the Texas AirHogs 13-9. Starter Tim Brown recorded the victory on the mound pitching six innings, allowing six earned runs. Wingnuts’ RF Richard Prigatano had three hits while LF T.J. Mittelstaedt hit his fourth home run of the year. For Texas, 3B Austin Gallagher went 3-for-5.

Kansas City 4, Joplin 2
Kansas City scored four runs over the first three innings en route to a 4-2 win against the Joplin Blasters. T-Bones 3B Brian Tierney crushed his first home run of the year in the third inning to secure an early lead. Starter David Holman logged his second win throwing 5.2 innings, allowing one earned run as reliever Mark Haynes recorded the save. For Joplin, CF Oscar Mesa went 3-for-3 as the Blasters outhit Kansas City 11-7.

Lincoln 7, Laredo 0
Saltdogs’ 1B Rene Leveret went 3-for-3 and blasted his fifth home run of the year to guide Lincoln to a 7-0 win over the Laredo Lemurs. Starter Matt Larkins improved to 3-0 throwing six scoreless innings, scattering six hits. C Ryan Wiggins and SS Dan Hennigan each had two hits. Lemurs’ 3B Travis Denker went 2-for-3 with a walk.

Sioux City 8, Gary SouthShore 5 (12 innings)

In 12 innings, the Sioux City Explorers used 11 hits to defeat the Gary SouthShore RailCats 8-5. The Explorers trailed 5-1 entering the fifth inning where they would score four runs to tie the game before going into extra innings. RF Michael Lang clubbed his second home run of the year going 3-for-6 with three RBI as reliever Connor Overton recorded the win hurling two scoreless innings. For the RailCats, LF Cameron Newell went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
