Track & Field Competition for 1,000 Laredo-Area SOTX Athletes

(Laredo, Texas)-Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) will host its annual Spring Games for nearly 1,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from Laredo Area and the three surrounding counties. Athletes will compete in SOTX’s most popular sport, Athletics (track and field).
Athletes will compete in various Track & Field events, including: 10m Assisted Walk, 10m Wheelchair Race, 100m Run, 100m Walk, 25m Assisted Walk, 25m Run, 25m Walk, 25m Wheelchair Race, 4×100 Relays, 50m Assisted Walk, 50m Motorized Wheelchair Slalom, 50m Run and 50m Walk. Field events will include Long Jump, Javelin, Shot Put, Softball Throw, Standing Long Jump and Tennis Ball Throw.
Athletes will be awarded medals or ribbons based on the result of their performance. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
