LRD141lbscoc42916LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers this past weekend seized alleged cocaine valued at more than $1 million at Laredo Port of Entry in one enforcement action.  “Our CBP officers utilized their training and interviewing skills to intercept this significant amount of narcotics,” said (A) Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “Their hard work and enforcement efforts serve as a great example of their commitment to secure our borders while facilitating legitimate travel.”

The incident occurred on Friday, Apr. 29, when a CBP officer referred a 2005 Ford F-250 pickup hauling a utility trailer driven by a 42-year-old male Mexican citizen from Laredo, Texas for a secondary examination. A canine and non-intrusive inspection by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 58 packages allegedly containing 141 pounds of cocaine valued at $1,090,040.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and narcotics. The subject was arrested and the case was then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
