(Laredo, Texas)-United South Middle School (USMS), students were given a unique opportunity to see science in action during the Chemistry Roadshow held at their campus. The public service program featured Dr. James Pennington from Texas A & M University. Using his portable laboratory, Pennington treated 7th and 8th grade students to chemical experiments that turn ordinary objects and events into exciting learning experiences. Each Chemistry Roadshow makes an effort to entertain, while teaching that chemicals and chemistry are not only vital to our lives, but also can be fascinating. “The show is designed to be fun and informative. Even those students who are not thinking about a career in science find it thought provoking”, said Pennington.
