TAMIU Hosts Cesar Chavez National Blood Drive Challenge Tuesday-Thursday

Courtesy Steve Harmon,

Not all heroes wear capes!  Heroes are all around our community, creating opportunities for the less fortunate. Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will host a chance to be a hero at the Annual Cesar Chavez National Blood Drive Challenge on Tuesday, March 29 through Thursday, March 31 from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. in the Student Center parking lot.
This event is open to the TAMIU community. All donors receive a Texas Roadhouse appetizer coupon and a T-shirt. Donors can help save lives and become heroes.
The annual Cesar Chavez National Blood Drive Challenge promotes civic engagement in the Latino Community. Unfortunately, Latinos rank low in blood donation participation. Through healthy competition, the Blood Drive fosters opportunities for the Latino community to participate. Community involvement is encouraged by offering heroic cooperation.
Cesar Chavez’s legacy remains alive through acts that apply his values directed to the empowerment and growth of the community. Chavez lived as a civic hero and led marches and fasts for causes he truly believed in. These acts of leadership and engagement helped him create greater opportunities for minorities.
Through the Cesar Chavez National Blood Drive Challenge, The Cesar Chavez Foundation promotes health education and health science careers for university students by creating scholarship opportunities. It creates a platform for community members to discuss health concerns such as diabetes, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS. Most importantly, the Foundation saves lives.
