Laredo, TX (Webb County)—Hard work, determination and a lot of dedication led to double victories for two Webb County Sheriff’s Office PAL’s gym boxers.
The hometown boxers, Joshua Juarez, 18, and Hector Ferreyro Jr., 16, both competed this past weekend at the 2016 RGV Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament which took place in Brownsville, Texas Feb. 19-21. Juarez took first place in the Open Division. While Ferreyro swept the Novice Division also brining home first place. This is the 3rd consecutive win for Juarez, he will now be advancing to the Texas Golden Gloves State Tournament.
“I am going to try my best in winning once again at the State Level so that I may advance to Nationals,” said Joshua Juarez. “If I succeed, I would be the first boxer in Laredo to bring home that title and that motivates me even more.”
“They’ve been training day in and day out as it clearly shows in their latest achievement,” said W.C.S.O. PAL’s Gym coach, Rodolfo “Cobra” Gomez. “We would like to extend our gratitude in thanking Sheriff Martin Cuellar for his continued support in moving forward and supporting all of the boxers. It is because of this support that we are able to help more children and teach them the art of boxing.”
