UISD Spelling Bee Winners Announced

(Laredo, Texas)-The United Independent School District held its 3rd Annual Spelling Bee at the Student Activity Complex Auditorium located at 5208 Santa Claudia Lane. Thirty-six students, from 3rd through 8th grades, competed in the event. The competition was held in preparation of the Annual City-wide Spelling Bee that will be held at Laredo Community College, Downtown Campus, on March 19th.
After several competitive rounds, the top four winners were announced.UISD administration and Board President Ricardo “Rick” Rodriguez were on hand to formally congratulate the students. From left to right are: Elouisa Diaz, Director of Elementary Education; Karin Malik, 7th grader at United Middle School and returning champion from last year; Karlos Tamez, 7th grader at Clark Middle School; Kayli Dimas, 8th grader at United South Middle School; Emmanuel Rimocal, 3rd grader at Kennedy-Zapata Elementary School, and Rodriguez, UISD Board President. These students, and others that participated in the event, will go on to compete in the City-wide Spelling Bee as well. United ISD congratulates all students, their sponsors and parents for a job well done.
