Mrs. Angelica Sanchez Named to Career and Technology Education Director Post

Laredo, Texas- United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce the selection of Mrs. Angelica R. Sanchez as the new Director of Career and Technology Education.
The official announcement was made at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.
“She was amongst many highly qualified applicants which made the hiring process very competitive,” said Superintendent Santos. “I believe that Mrs. Sanchez has the knowledge and experience that will support a smooth transition into the department. I am confident she will do a great job,” added Santos.
Mrs. Sanchez has been working for United ISD since 1996. She began her career as a teacher at United South High School where she taught business and technology for 7 years. While at USHS, she served as a UIL Computers Applications Coach, Magnet Sponsor and as Silver Stepper Team Director. From 2003 to 2010 she served as Assistant Principal and Magnet Dean. In 2010, she moved to United High School, serving as the Magnet Dean for the Academy of Engineering and Technology.
Mrs. Sanchez is a graduate of United High School. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Major in Finance from Texas A&I University, where she graduated with honors. She obtained her teaching certificate in Provisional/Office Education from Texas A & M Corpus Christi. Mrs. Sanchez has her Master’s degree in science education administration.
“I am thrilled to be starting this new position with the District, and I thank the Board of Trustees and Superintendent for their confidence. I will continue to serve in the best interests of our students and this District,” said Mrs. Sanchez. Mrs. Sanchez will replace Dr. Alicia Carrillo who took the post of Executive Director of Federal Programs.
