Webb County Sheriff’s Office Releases Statement Following Death of Inmate

Laredo, TX (Webb County) — Laredo, TX (Webb County) — On Sunday, November 22, 2015, at around 11:30 pm., Webb County Correctional Officers began administering emergency medical procedures on a non-responsive detainee.
The detainee, identified as Mario Alberto Andrade, 30, was being monitored in accordance to policies and procedures.
Officers and medical staff responded immediately to his condition. The detainee was transported to Laredo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Andrade’s family has been notified.
Andrade was admitted to the Webb County Jail following his arrest on Friday, November 20, 2015, for Burglary of Habitation and Burglary of Building.
Preliminary investigation indicates no foul play was involved nor did Andrade commit suicide. It is believed he died on his own gastric secretions. A full autopsy has been ordered. This investigation will continue.
