Man pleads guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child

(Laredo, Texas)-The District Attorney’s Office has secured a guilty plea in its case against Simon Gabriel Cabriales for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
On April 9, 2014, a female relative out cried to her school counselor that Simon Cabriales had sexually assaulted her since she was 5-years-old. The Laredo Police Department Special Investigation Unit was called to assist in the case who took the victim to the Children’s Advocacy Center to be interviewed and confessed to the sexual encounters. Cabriales was arrested later that evening and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of indecency with a child, a first-degree felony and second-degree felony in the State of Texas, respectively.
Simon Gabriel Cabriales, 40, plead guilty to 30 years to serve to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony in the State of Texas, before the 406th District Court Judge Oscar J. Hale Jr. He will begin his sentence immediately at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institution Division.
Assistant District Attorney Linda Garza-Martinez prosecuted the case for the State.
