Laredo, Texas –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers assigned to work at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge seized a significant amount of methamphetamine valued at more than $1.3 million in one enforcement action.

“Our frontline CBP officers applied their training and interviewing skills to intercept this significant amount of hard narcotics,” said Acting Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “Their steady enforcement pace underscores their commitment to secure our borders while facilitating legitimate travel.”

The seizure occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when a CBP officer interviewed a 20-year-old female Mexican citizen from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon who was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango and had requested a travel permit. The CBP officer referred the woman and the vehicle for a secondary examination.  A canine and non-intrusive inspection by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 64 packages allegedly containing 65 pounds of crystal methamphetamines valued at $1,306,005.

CBP officers seized narcotics and vehicle. CBP officers arrested the woman and the case was then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
