The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) together with the Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) recently approved to award Webb County a Community Development Fund of three hundred four thousand nine hundred twenty-two dollars ($304,922).
This grant will serve to fund improvements to the water system that is used by residents of the Webb County colonias. The county owns and operates a water plant that provides water services to these residents. However, in the last couple of years it has been determined that there are improvements that must be made in order to provide better service to those who reside in the colonias. Webb County’s commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of its citizens remains firmly established.
“This project will improve the availability of potable water to many colonia residents who have struggled with obtaining water from our undersized water system since 2000,” stated Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina, “Guaranteeing water availability will make a profound impact on the lives of the many low-income families this grant will benefit. Webb County will continue to pursue and support Community Development Block Grant programs that improve the living conditions and quality of life of our rural residents”.
