LAREDO, TX – Traffic congestion on FM 1472 (Mines Rd.) between Killam Ind. Blvd. & Pellegrino Ct. continues due to construction of a concrete center median where both the northbound and southbound inside main lanes and center left turn lane remain closed.
TxDOT is implementing other alternatives to keep traffic moving. Working with the City of Laredo to adjust traffic signal light timings and traffic flow are among those traffic solutions being looked at. Others solutions include coordination with the contractor
The aforementioned pattern is expected to continue throughout the duration of this project. Construction crews will be working nighttime until further notice. Off duty police officers will be utilized as needed.
Moreover, another FM 1472 (Mines Rd.) project ongoing is the construction of concrete pavement, southbound only, between Pan American Blvd. and Interamerica Blvd. Due to scheduling, no lane closures will be implemented tomorrow on this project.
In the meantime, motorists should slow down, prepare to merge, expect travel delays, and make alternate plans and time adjustments when traveling to their destinations.
TxDOT strongly suggests motorists adhere to all traffic control devices in the work zone since motorists have been seen driving into areas of project construction, which can result in injury to other persons, their vehicles and themselves.
