J.C. Penney, IZOD Donate Uniforms To United ISD

(Laredo, Texas)-J.C. Penney, IZOD Donate School Uniforms To United ISD and Encourage Back-To-School Shopping at J.C. Penney and Mall Del Norte During Tax Free Weekend

To help students get ready for the first day of school, J.C. Penney and IZOD clothing company announced today a generous donation of new school uniforms to United ISD. The donation was made during a press conference held in front of J.C. Penney at Mall Del Norte. In total, the two entities donated approximately 1,000 articles of new uniform tops and bottoms which regularly priced is estimated at $20,000. This is the eighth year J.C. Penney and IZOD have partnered together to donate new school uniforms to United ISD.

“J.C. Penney is proud to partner with IZOD in this donation,” said J.C. Penney Manager Sergio Vaca. “We know that school uniforms help students, and their families, get ready for school and they help promote responsibility, discipline and success in our students.”

Vaca went on to mention that IZOD school uniforms can also be purchased at J.C. Penney and will be specially priced during the tax-free holiday which begins this Friday through Sunday.

Director of Marketing IZOD Schoolwear Program Jeff Rayden said that “IZOD is very happy and pleased to support UISD, once again, with this donation of uniforms. IZOD wishes all students, parents, and school district staff members a wonderful school year.”

Rayden also encouraged shopping at J.C. Penney at Mall Del Norte and to take advantage of the special tax-free weekend, back-to-school sales.

At the event, students from United ISD modeled the various styles of IZOD uniforms that were donated and are available for purchase at J.C. Penney.

“I think these uniforms are great!” said Elicia Mercardo, a 5th grade student at Ruiz Elementary School.

United ISD Board Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos presented J.C. Penney and IZOD with an award for their generous contributions over the years.

“On behalf of our Board of Trustees, we appreciate their kindness and generosity to United ISD. Our students will greatly benefit from this donation,” said United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos.

The first day of school is August 24, 2015.
