Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit seizes 220 pounds of marijuana

Laredo, TX – Four men and one woman are behind bars after Webb County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators discovered more than 200 pounds of marijuana at a home in central Laredo on Monday.

Emiliano Quiñones, 20; Jose Luis Gonzalez, 33; Eligio Juarez Rodriguez, 56; Arturo Lopez, 30; and Maria Dominguez, 33, were arrested at a home in the 400 of Galveston Street and were all charged with possession of marijuana, felony 2. Lopez was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, felony 3. All were remanded to the Webb County Jail.

In addition to the 220 pounds of marijuana, Sheriff’s deputies also seized one Rothco tactical vest, one Reliance armor tactical vest, one Taurus .38 super handgun and several pistol and rifle magazines, as well as a large quantity of ammunition.

The marijuana has an estimated street value of more than $1.3 million.

Sheriff Martin Cuellar lauded the work of the deputies and reminds the community about reporting suspicious activities to 956-727- TIPS (8477). All calls remain anonymous and should the call result in an arrest, the caller may be eligible for a monetary reward.
