Laredo, TX (Webb County) – Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two local men Wednesday morning on charges of possession of marijuana.
Isaac Perales, 30, and Alfonso Santos, 20, were remanded without bond each to the Webb County Jail.
The arrests were a result of a tip to the Crimestoppers hotline wherein the caller indicated that possible suspicious activity was taking place at a residence in the 4000 block of Totempole. After setting surveillance for a couple weeks, the deputies apprehended Perales and Santos shortly before noon.
The marijuana, which was stored in nine packages, has an estimated street value of $1.125 million.
Sheriff Martin Cuellar reminds the public on the importance of reporting any sort of suspicious activity to the Crimestoppers Hotline at 956-727-TIPS (8477). All calls remain anonymous and should the call result in an arrest, the caller may be eligible for a monetary reward.
“One of the best ways to keep our communities safe is for neighbors to be watching out for each other,” said Sheriff Cuellar. “These drugs could have ended up in the hands of our children, but thanks to this individual who called our tips hotline, we have removed these narcotics from the streets.”
