Lrd20lbscocaineLAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Lincoln Juarez Bridge recently intercepted 20 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated street value of $155,040.

“The primary officer’s experience and interviewing technique was a key component in this significant narcotics interception,” said Port Director Joseph Misenhelter, Laredo Port of Entry. “However, I commend all those involved because it’s not only the primary officer who deserves recognition, but also the secondary officers who assisted in locating and extracting the deeply concealed drugs from within the vehicle.”

The enforcement action occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2015 after CBP officers referred a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 34-year-old female Mexican citizen from Amatepec, Mexico for a secondary examination.  A canine and non-intrusive x-ray inspection indicated anomalies and further examination by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 22 packages allegedly containing 20 pounds of cocaine hidden within the vehicle.

CBP officers seized the narcotics, vehicle and arrested the female driver who was then turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
