Laredo, TX – Laredo Lemurs starting pitcher Scott Garner only gave up one run in a stellar performance on Wednesday night as the Lemurs took the rubber game of the series with a 3-1 win over the Three Rivers Eagles at Uni-Trade Stadium.
Garner’s night on the mound started off strong as he retired the side in order to set the pace for the game. He gave up a base hit to Daniel Mateo to start the second. Mateo would later score off the Jonathon Jones double down the left field line. That was the only run the Eagles would get on the night. At the end of the second Garner started a streak of retiring 12 straight batters as he got Sasha LaGarde out to end the frame.
Garner went 6.2 innings, giving up one run on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts. He retired the side in order four times throughout the night.
On the offensive end for the Lemurs, D’Vontrey Richardson led the charge as he picked up four hits in five at-bats with three singles and a home run that tied the game at one in the fifth. Kevin Taylor broke the 1-1 tie with his third home run of the year that was blasted over the right field fence to give the Lemurs a 2-1 lead in the 8th.
John Brebbia locked down his fourth save of the season in the top of the ninth when he retired the side in order with two strikeouts to finish off the Eagles.
