In observance of Dia Del Niño, Arndt Elementary students filled 55 backpacks with school supplies, books, and personal hygiene products. The backpacks were donated to foster children serviced by Lutheran Social Services. This event was intended to educate students in giving back to the community. Principal Juanita Zepeda said that she is proud of what her students and Arndt family accomplished.
“Thanks to the generosity and hard work of so many people we were able to do something special for foster children in our area. Everyone came together for this effort, so I want to thank our 900 students, parents, Jesse Hernandez at Books A Million, Wal-Mart on San Bernardo, Oscar Urdiales at Family Chevrolet and H.E.B. on Zapata highway”, said Zepeda. The effort was coordinated by Arndt Librarian Ben Vargas and Adriana Ommen, Counselor.
