The District Attorney’s Office secured a guilty plea in its case against Abdias Arce-Martinez for the murder of Jennifer Casarez.

On August 5, 2014, a female made contact with officers of the Laredo Police Department and advised them that her son, Abdias Arce-Martinez, confessed to choking a female and putting her body in the trunk of a vehicle. That morning, officers found Arce-Martinez at a neighbor’s house on the 600 block of East Lyon Street and transported him to the Laredo Police Headquarters for further investigation. At first, Arce-Martinez denied choking any female or placing any female in a trunk of a vehicle. However, he later stated that he strangled Casarez and she fell asleep. Arce admitted that he carried her body into the trunk of her vehicle, drove it to the 2100 block of Sanders Avenue and abandoned the vehicle.

Arce-Martinez was arrested that same day and charged with murder, a first-degree felony in the State of Texas.

Abdias Arce-Martinez, plead guilty to murder before the 49th District Court Judge Jose A. Lopez. He was sentenced to 40 years in the Texas Department of Corrections for the murder charge.

Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Garcia prosecuted the case for the State.
