Website review looks at variety of factors to determine score
(Laredo, TX ) The Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course has once again been recognized as a standard of excellence, having recently been rated as the number one public golf course in Texas by TexasOutside.com, an independent golf course website that reviews and rates public golf courses throughout the state, receiving an overall rating of 9.5 out of 10. The review looks at a variety of factors, including: beauty (9.0), difficulty (8.8), variety (9.3), fun to play (10), value (10) and condition (10).
“The City of Laredo is very pleased to know that the Max continues to be recognized for the quality, competitive and affordable golf course that it is, making it a true draw for golf enthusiasts from throughout Texas and northern Mexico,” said Horacio De Leon, Assistant City Manager who oversees the golf course operations. “We want to encourage all those Laredo golf fanatics who have yet to experience the draw of this magnificent course to come see what all the buzz is about.”
According to the website review, “Combine the scenic beauty with excellent conditions from tee box to the cup, a layout that is fair but challenging, greens that are near perfect and reasonable rates, the result is a memorable and fun round of golf.”
“Bottom line – one of the best courses in Texas and you need to go out of your way to play the Max – excellent conditions, near perfect greens, a fun layout, top notch service, a great clubhouse with bar and grill.”
Additionally, the website complimented the management of the course and clubhouse by Foresight Golf, commenting on “the conditions of the Max, the high level of quality service, and the attention to detail. The “Beautiful 9,000 square foot clubhouse with a well stocked Pro Shop, full bar, Las Islitas Grill with lots of good choices from sliders to fajitas, burgers, sandwiches, and more. Service is excellent and the practice facilities are good.”
The Max has received numerous accolades since it first opened, including: “Best New Courses of 2013” by Golf Digest; “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” by Golf Magazine; and “Best Municipal Courses in the US” by Golfweek.
