(Laredo, Tx)-Congratulations are in order for the creative and talented UIL film team from Lyndon B. Johnson High School. The group earned 3rd place in Division 2 for their documentary (Rise), at this year’s UIL Young Filmmakers Festival. Rise is about a young filmmaker who embarks on a journey to discover what it it takes to become a You Tube celebrity.
Rise was one of 41 films selected (from over 650 entries), for the final round of competition. An impressive footnote to this story is that LBJ has become the first Laredo team to place in the history of this awards festival. This year’s awards gala was held on February 18, 2015, at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas.
