Alamo Drafthouse Proudly Presents Mud Run3

Sponsorship includes prize package for competitors

(Laredo, TX )  Organizers for this year’s Mud Run 3 have some exciting news to announce as Alamo Drafthouse, the new movie house and restaurant scheduled to open its doors in Laredo in April, has just signed up to become the title sponsor.  Participants will compete in the Alamo Drafthouse No Mud! No Glory! One Tough Mud’r3! taking place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at North Central Park, located at 10202 International Boulevard.  The top winning team in the 5K mud obstacle race will win an Alamo Drafthouse party package for up to 100 people.

“Alamo Drafthouse is excited to join the Laredo community and sponsor this year’s Mud Run,” commented  Kristen Wheaton, Director of Sales and Marketing for Alamo Drafthouse. “We look forward to many more events that support our new neighbors here in Laredo.”

The entire package, valued at approximately $5,000, will provide: Best of Alamo choice of menu with beverage and popcorn; cash bar option; movie (first run or older film); staffing included; Monday through Thursday event; black-out dates: December and large box office release opening days.

Alamo Drafthouse will offer dining while patrons can enjoy a movie at one of the eight movie screens on their four acre tract in North Laredo, and is expected to be open in April.  Alamo Drafthouse will offer moviegoers with a unique experience to enjoy a movie while enjoying a good meal. The movie house chain has been named “Best Theater in America” by Entertainment Weekly. 

“I am so proud that we were able to welcome Alamo Drafthouse with open arms into the Laredo community with such a fun event,” said City of Laredo District VI Council Member Charlie San Miguel. 

Additionally, teams will compete for the Agent Jeffrey Ramirez Memorial Team Championship Award.  This trophy is named for Border Patrol Agent Jeffrey Ramirez who passed away two years ago on the day of the first mud run; Agent Ramirez was a big fan of such events.  Border Patrol agents who ran in his who honor took the trophy vow to keep defending the title.

Also joining Alamo Drafthouse as a major sponsor will be Gold’s Gym of Laredo.  With two state-of-the-art facilities that serve the Laredo community, the locally-owned and operated franchise has been a leader in health and fitness since 2005, by helping Laredoans get physically fit and healthy.  The top individual female and top individual male will each receive a multi-club three-month membership, valued at $350 each,  to Gold’s Gym of Laredo.

“Gold’s Gym of Laredo is excited to be supporting the 2015 Mud Run!” commented  Cindy Garcia-Pope, Owner & Director of Sales/ Marketing for Gold’s Gym South Texas. “We love that the city is getting more involved in health and fitness and providing fun and innovative ways to keep the residents of Laredo active.”

Complete Nutrition has also come on board as a sponsor of the race, ready to serve the needs of Laredoans who are serious about looking better, feeling better and performing better.  All participants will receive a Complete Nutrition sample product in their registration packet. The individual male winner will receive a two-month supply of the Mancore system, a $199.99 value that is designed for men who are serious about their health and vitality.  Individual female winner will receive a two-month supply of the CTS 360 system, valued at $179.99 and designed to kick-start a female’s metabolism and reduce stubborn fat.

The top individual male and female trophy is named in honor of the late Marcos Aranda, a City of Laredo firefighter and paramedic, as well as local sports hero who lost his battle with cancer.  The trophy is named the Firefighter Marcos Aranda Memorial Champion Award.

Early bird registration closes on March 27, 2015, so sign up early for early bird registration fee and best heat choice.  Multiple age categories for individuals and opportunities for team competitions, including: Law enforcement – all teams will be automatically compete to be the best law enforcement agency, in the mud of course; gyms – find out which gym has the best athletes; and high schools – youth can cheer for their team.

All participants will receive a medal for running the race, and some awards are just fun ones that anyone has a chance to win.  At the Awards Ceremony, prizes will be given out for the

·                     Youngest Participant

·                     Dirtiest Participant

·                     Best Costume (yes! Bust out the wig and crazy duds and run dressed up!); and the

·                     Best Team Name.
